Advanced Phlebotomy

Note: For individuals with more than 6 months of experience

Our advanced course is set up to follow the basic theory class and will present an in-depth study of advanced infection control, the advanced theory and technique of venipuncture, pre-analytical errors to avoid, as well as a module on advanced law and ethics pertaining to the profession of phlebotomy, building on the previous modules in the Basic Course. This course is strictly timed to be 20+ hours long.

CCMCC's Advanced Phlebotomy Online course is designed for:

  • The student who has worked in the medical field drawing blood on real patients for more than 6 months with the goal of becoming a Certified Phlebotomy Technician. This course does NOT have to be taken in conjunction with Basic Phlebotomy in order to qualify to take a National Phlebotomy Certification Examination (if you have 6+ months experience), however we highly recommend it and proof of clinical experience must be provided. The student must provide a California "Letter of phlebotomy experience" document signed by a Laboratory Director/MD, DO, CLB stating successful completion of 50 venipunctures and 10 skin punctures on real patients while on the job (not during training) prior to sitting for a National Certification Examination.

Prerequisite : High School completion (unopened, sealed transcripts) or GED (unopened, sealed transcripts) and successful completion of the Basic course if you have less than 6 months experience in the medical field. (Sealed transcripts will need to be sent to the state of California CDPH-LFS with application, not to the school.)

The fee for the Advanved Phlebotomy course is $399.00.

Comprehensive Basic and Advanced Phlebotomy Online Combo

Note: For individuals with less than 6 months of experience

This course gives the student an overview of anatomy, physiology and basic infection control, along with basic phlebotomy theory which will prepare the student for advanced phlebotomy techniques. Students with less than 1040 hours of experience must begin with this Basic Phlebotomy course. This course is strictly timed to be 20+ hours long.

CCMCC's Comprehensive Basic Phlebotomy Online course is designed for:

  • The student who has worked in the medical field for less than 6 months with the goal of becoming a Certified Phlebotomy Technician. This course must be taken in conjunction with Advanced Phlebotomy and you must be able to provide documented proof of clinical experience in order to qualify to take a National Phlebotomy Certification Examination. The student must provide a California "Letter of phlebotomy experience" document signed by a Laboratory Director/MD, DO, CLB stating successful completion of 50 venipunctures and 10 skin punctures on real patients while on the job (not during training) prior to sitting for a National Certification Examination.
